Kooroo was established in 2006 in Kenya and by Hebret Lakew and Enid Lanez. A women’s ready-to-wear clothing line, the brand blends sophisticated urban chic with African influences therefore embodying a combination of traditional heritage and global appeal. Kooroo believes in local production, training, sustainable and ethical local employment and all design and production takes place in Kooroo workshops based in Nairobi.
Kooroo currently have two shops in Kenya. One is located on General Mathenge Drive, Le Rustique premises, Westlands, Nairobi and the second is located at City Mall, Nyali, Mombasa. Kooroo garments are also stocked in online store Sapelle.com.
Interesting fact: “Kooroo” means “be proud” in Amharic according to this Kooroo interview on the African Prints in Fashion blog.
