Afrodyssee 2024

The seventh edition of Afrodyssée is set to dazzle from May 31 to June 2, 2024, at the Maison communale de Plainpalais in Geneva, Switzerland. This vibrant event brings together 26 designers who will showcase their collections and creations in a scenography designed to immerse attendees in their cultures and influences. For lovers of fashion, design, craftsmanship, and shopping, Afrodyssée promises an unforgettable experience.

This year, Afrodyssée is shining a spotlight on the theme of Upcycling on the African continent, aligning with its mission to promote sustainable initiatives and positive actions for the environment. While Africa is often unfairly characterized as disinterested in environmental preservation, the reality is quite the opposite. Many local and national initiatives have embraced upcycling as a powerful tool to combat plastic pollution and create sustainable economic opportunities by giving worn materials a second life and added value.

The event will feature a spectacular fashion show, showcasing the latest collections from 12 designers selected for this 7th edition. Each designer will have their moment to shine during one of the most popular moments of the event. At the conclusion of the fashion show, a jury will award the prestigious "Afrodyssée 2024 designer" prize, highlighting the event's commitment to supporting African creation and innovation.

In addition to the fashion show, Afrodyssée will host the Franco-Swiss Ballroom scene, offering attendees a unique blend of artistic and political culture. These socialization spaces were created as "safe" places for queer and racialized individuals in response to persistent discrimination. During the Ball, Houses will compete against each other in categories combining dance and performance, carrying within them a protest and political message.

Adding to the excitement, Adele Dejak will be showcasing jewellery alongside Judy Sanderson, offering attendees a chance to explore their stunning creations. Joining them will be a lineup of talented designers including Vanhu Vamwe, L'Artisan Senegal, Lilabare, Mafi Mafi, Pepper Row, The Fia Factory, Kente Gentlemen, Masa Mara, Threaded Tribes, and Asantii, among others.

Prepare to be inspired, dazzled, and uplifted at Afrodyssée 2024—a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and cultural diversity.

See you there!
