Duro Olowu
Nigerian-born Duro Olowu returned to his first love of fashion after training in law. His London-based label won the British Fashion Council’s New Designer award just a year after launch (and he was the first to win it without ever holding a runway show!). He continues to break the mould – earlier this year he chose to curate an exhibition/pop-up showin place of having a traditional fashion show.Visit his website to view collections and for information on stockists.Images from left: 2, 3Tiffany Amber
Folake Folarin-Coker launched Tiffany Amber in 1998, revolutionizing the Nigerian fashion industry. Another trained lawyer, Lagos-born Folake schooled in Switzerland, England and Scotland; then relocated to Nigeria where her love for fashion reigned supreme over all. In the past 13 years, Folake has earned many accolades for her work and is the first African-based designer to showcase for two consecutive seasons at the New York Fashion Week.
